Dr. McCurdy’s group has researched kratom extensively, and he describes the types of studies he will present. He introduces the Mitragyna speciosa (MS) tree, kratom’s major alkaloids, and how kratom is traditionally prepared and used in Southeast (SE) Asia. Kratom has unique and “disruptive” pharmacologic actions.
