NCCIH has released a new Continuing Medical Education online program based on a lecture given at NIH last year by John Cryan, Ph.D., an internationally renowned researcher on probiotics. Dr. Cryan’s topic is “Towards Psychobiotics: The Microbiome as a Key Regulator of Brain and Behavior.”

If you are a physician, nurse, or other allied health professional who needs to earn continuing education credit, we invite you to explore this program as well as others in our Online Continuing Education Series. Dr. Cryan’s lecture lasts about an hour. Once you register, you can watch it at your convenience (including leaving and returning if you wish), take a short quiz, and, if you score at least 70 percent on the quiz, print your certificate of completion. This online activity is approved for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit and 1 Nursing contact hour.

We invite other readers as well to watch this program to learn about the state-of-the-science. You may also enjoy our brief video question-and-answer session with Dr. Cryan.
