UPDATE: The latest funding announcement is RFA-AT-23-009. The application due date is January 17, 2023. (The previous announcements were terminated: RFA-AT-23-006 and RFA-AT-23-008.)
This technical assistance webinar will provide information for those interested in applying for a funding opportunity announcement to support a collection of research networks that promote multidisciplinary mechanistic studies of music-based interventions (MBIs) for pain or Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD). These networks are expected to develop compelling research frameworks that will effectively:
- Guide future clinical studies on MBIs in these health conditions
- Adopt consistent terminology and taxonomy
- Support interdisciplinary collaborations and initiate pilot projects to test novel mechanistic hypotheses
- Identify strong mechanistic measures, outcomes, biomarkers, as well as relevant novel technologies and methodologies
To accomplish these objectives, applicants can propose activities such as meetings, workshops, conferences, research collaborations, exchange of ideas through visiting scientist arrangements, or training opportunities. These activities will help identify unique research gaps that can be addressed through the networks in the form of pilot projects, which will, in turn, generate the preliminary data needed for music and health investigators to compete for more substantial National Institutes of Health grants. In addition, the networks should sustain their scientific impact through a variety of dissemination and outreach strategies, including publication of research frameworks, common terminologies, reviews, and other best practices.
Note: Applicants are not required to attend this webinar before applying.
