Grants With Multiple Oversight Levels

Some grants propose multiple studies that may be assigned to more than one oversight level. For example, grants that propose intervention development in addition to a full-scale clinical trial would be assigned multiple oversight levels. It is important to consult the Oversight Levels webpage for more information on all applicable oversight levels.

When multiple studies are proposed, the funding restriction on the Notice of Award will specify which studies may commence with human subject involvement and which are restricted due to additional requirements. Clinical activity for each individual study cannot begin until required documents have been reviewed and approved by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, depending on the oversight level of each study.
